Texas SNAP EBT Payment Schedule: Deposit Dates by EDG Number
Quick Answer
Texas deposits SNAP benefits between the 1st and the 28th of every month. For most households the day depends on the last two digits of your SNAP EDG number — the same day each month. Your exact day is also printed on your award letter (Form TF0001).
Texas does not pay all SNAP households on the same day. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) spreads deposits across the first 28 days of the month, based on your Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number. This guide was first written for June 2026; the schedule below is the same every month.

Older cases: households certified before May 1, 2023 keep the schedule they already had, unless their benefits stopped for at least six months and they reapplied after that date. If your day does not match the table, your award letter is the authority.
Candy and Sweetened Drink Rule
Since April 1, 2026, Texas SNAP benefits cannot be used to buy candy or sweetened drinks, under a USDA-approved state waiver. HHSC defines sweetened drinks as non-alcoholic water-based beverages with 5 grams or more of added sugar or any artificial sweetener. Drinks containing milk or milk substitutes, or more than 50% fruit or vegetable juice, are still allowed.

| 7 | $5,421 | $4,170 | $1,616 |

| Each additional member | +$616 | +$474 | +$225 |
In Texas, some households qualify through categorical eligibility with gross income up to 165% of the poverty level, and households where everyone receives TANF cash or SSI skip the income test (Texas Works Handbook B-470). Households with an elderly or disabled member follow different rules. HHSC makes the final decision. The full Texas table, including the 165% limits, is in our Texas SNAP benefits guide.
The maximum benefit goes only to households with no countable net income. Most households get less, because SNAP expects about 30% of net income to be spent on food.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get extra SNAP benefits this month?
No. The temporary federal emergency allotments ended nationwide after February 2023. You receive your regular monthly benefit, based on household size and income.
Does my deposit day change from month to month?
No. Under the HHSC schedule, your day is tied to your EDG number, so it stays the same each month. Your award letter shows the day that applies to you.
Can I use my Lone Star Card in another state?
Yes. SNAP benefits can be used at SNAP-authorized retailers in any state. Some states also restrict certain items, such as candy or soda.
How long does a SNAP application take?
Federal rules require a decision within 30 days of applying, or within 7 days if your household qualifies for expedited service (7 CFR 273.2).
